Prepare a delicious ground buffalo recipe in 8 steps in less than 15 minutes.

Buffalo herd in South Dakota

The following ground buffalo recipe one of the easiest and quickest to prepare. I'm also going to share some advantages of taking this type of meal on your next camping trip.

At the grocery store the ground buffalo comes in a sturdy packaging that does not easily leak when placed in the camping cooler and packed in ice.

The meat is vacuum packed which provides extra protection. Because of this the expiration date is pushed out further making this ground buffalo meat ideal for longer camping trips.

Buffalo (Bison) is a much leaner meat than beef for example. Not only that but Buffalo are free roaming animals and the meat is organic.

All these factors set the stage for the perfect ground buffalo recipe.

Let's get started!

Ingredients:
1 Package – Ground Buffalo (I lb./pkg) aka. Ground Bison

1 hand-full - finely chopped mushrooms (or instead of mushrooms use finely chopped eggplant)
2 tbsp – chopped onion
2 tbsp – chopped red pepper (or, green pepper)
1 tbsp – chopped garlic
1 tbsp – chopped ginger
1 tbsp – chopped parsley
1-2 cups – pre-cooked rice (Nishiki white rice is my favorite)
1 hand-full – finely split broccoli

Spices used:
Lawry’s Seasoning Salt
Thyme
Red Chile Flakes or similar, if you like it hot!

Salads are optional:
A little bit of olive oil poured over any type salad with a dash of sea-salt is simple to prepare and refreshingly delicious with dinner.

Note: For the pan use olive oil.

Preparation: (total cooking time 12-15 minutes)

1 - Put some olive oil and heat in “Teflon” frying pan. Use medium heat.

Note: Never let the olive oil get so hot in a pan that it smokes! That’s very unhealthy!

Also: Because ground Buffalo is such a lean meat we need to add olive oil to the pan. Not something you need to do with ground beef.

Toss in the Ground Buffalo and chop up the chunk of meat with a spatula.

2 - Season the ground buffalo with a little Lawry’s Seasoning Salt. Stir around and flip the contents until the meat becomes a grayish brown.

3 - Add all the extras: onion, ginger, garlic, parsley, mushrooms (eggplant), red pepper & finely split broccoli to the pan. Mix all the contents.

4 - Reduce the heat to low and cover with a lid.

5 – After (5) minutes, stir contents around with the spatula.
Now is a good “time” to add some “thyme”.
Also, add some red chile flakes….if you like it hot.

6 - At (8-10) minutes, add your pre-cooked rice.

7 - Stir around with the spatula until everything is mixed. Use low heat and cover with lid for a couple minutes until all contents in the pan are hot and ready to eat.

If you like…you can increase the heat for the last couple of minutes while mixing with spatula! That’ll make everything a little crisp….yum!

8 - The broccoli bits should be hot but still a little crisp when serving. (12-15 minutes total time)

Preparing this ground buffalo recipe was easy wasn’t it? Hardly any clean up, just remember to wipe out the pan with a paper towel while it’s still warm to make clean up even easier!

It's delicious too!
